If you’re wondering, I made the intro title using LiveType, that comes along in Final Cut Express 4 =)

Insomnia 2, for me at least, is the easiest of the Insomnia courses (easier than the first simply because of how much Pollinosis is an annoyance…and Insomnia 3, the moment in Ah Shwe Bah where all the notes displace to the point that my timing’s off too much…and Finale I just dunno…=[ ), so I decided of all the modded courses to record I’d choose this one to record first =)

It wasn’t too hard, I think the main problems was when the notes were too bunched up together (literally my worst skill in Stepmania or any dance game is when they’re too bunched together, or Brake/Decelerate is on) and the few moments of lag - other than that, a pretty good run - besides, I’m recording, I’m supposed to do badly =)

Also, for Stepmania itself, for best results, go into the Stepmania.ini (for me it’s in the Data folder inside the Stepmania folder, so if you’re on Mac, there’s some help for you =) ), and change these things:

DisplayAspectRatio=
DisplayColorDepth=
DisplayHeight=
DisplayWidth=

Change these 4 things to the following (don’t include the lines starting with //):
NB: ALL these changes should be done when Stepmania ISN’T running, otherwise they’ll just revert back to previous settings.

DisplayAspectRatio=1.777778
//This is the 16:9 ratio, i.e. widescreen. 9*this ratio is 16 is you really want to make sure =)
//Originally, this ratio will be 1.333334 or something, which is the 4:3 ratio.
DisplayColorDepth=32
//Basically the amount of colour/colour variation among your colours…
//..dunno what I just said but point is your Stepmania screen will look richer in 32.
//You can still however change to 16 in-game or here; it can reduce lag.
DisplayHeight=720
DisplayWidth=1280
//These are your custom parameters for your screen size - that’s right,
//You’re not just limited to the options Stepmania gives you.
//The size I have here is optimized for 0-resizing for true HD for recording.
//It is also in 16:9 ratio.

And one more thing, recording tends to be better when Windowed, so if you haven’t already changed it in-game, you can do so in here. At the bottom is the text “Windowed= “, which will be 1 if windowed, 0 if full-screened. Change this to 1 to make it windowed, and this is better for recording.
