Hi my mother who is 49 years old is suffering from insomnia. do you know any good sleeping pills which might help her to get a good 6-7 hours of sleep? also any docs. in pune who treat insomnia, their address, qualification etc.? thanks!
Hi,
I would recommend melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland and has an important role in circadian rhythms. The daily rhythm of melatonin secretion is controlled by an inbuilt, free running pacemaker, the suprachiasmatic nucleus, and is synthesized from the amino acid tryptophan. Melatonin synthesis is controlled by exposure to cycles of light and dark, and occurs independently of sleep.
You may visit to my website http://www.yourinsomniacure.com or email to me if you need to clear any doubt for your mother.
Hope I have helped.

There are lots of good medications that treat insomnia, and very few good reasons not to try them (ambien is a wonder drug, lunesta is very effective, and even xanax can help with sleep). Dependency is a concern with any sleep aid that is prescription-based, but occasional use is seldom addictive and can be very helpful.
There are also some over the counter medications for helping with sleep like “Tylenol PM”, but these sometimes cause other conditions like Restless Leg Syndrome (no joke here) and are not usually very effective (though they are not as addictive).
Melatonin, which is not-prescription, is often helpful for treating insomnia. You can buy it off the Internet or at a local health food store. There is no reason to suffer from this condition!!! Tell your mom that there are lots of options and they are easy to try if she will talk about this with her doctor! Good luck!
