InnoScentz asked:

Baby sleeps fine, but she is awake all night “waiting for baby to wake up”? She ends up sleeping during baby’s day naps. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?

Using aroma therapy (lavender) - candles, lotions, etc… would be great. Smelling lavender is very calming and makes me sleepy. She can check at a healthfood store and see if there are any sleepy teas she can have while nursing too - they really do help.
She might be able to take 1/2 Unisom too (after nursing last feeding) - I know it’s safe during pregnancy for morning sickness. She can check with pharmacist or her doctor and ask.

How new is baby? She is probably going through some hormonal issues, or is stressed about baby’s safety during the night, which prevents her from sleeping.

stress can cause insomnia. she may need to relax and bump her milk. so dad can get up and feed the baby in the night.
dads need to help anyway they can with the feeding she can pump and it is still good for the baby. and she gets time to her self with out the stress of is the baby hungry will it wake up when i go to sleep. no dad will be there to give the bottle with breast milk in it to the baby.
another thing it breast milk is good for 4 hours at room timp. and you can freeze it. good for 6 mouths that way and in the frig good for 24 hours. and you just heat it up on the stove with hot water. make sure you test it on the inside of the wrist for the hotness. if it is hot there it is to hot for baby. need to be harm.
she may feel if she goes to bed she will not hear the baby. tell her she will hear the baby she is the mom now. moms have super hearing.

    Insomnia

I assume you are her hubby or significant other: YOU should give her a massage at night before bed. This will relax her and promote sleep. If you don’t have any fancy massage oil handy, just use baby oil.

Also tell her to try not to nap with the baby for one day and this might help her switch her sleeping schedule back to normal.

She’s a new mom and probably thinking about her baby, which is very normal. Help her find ways to relax at night. Candles, music, massage, cuddling….
