I adapt to medicines, too.
I only sleep about 3-6 hours a night. It’s just a part of my life.
Pills are a big help. They’ll have to keep adjusting them till they get them right. Without them, I don’t sleep at all.

I have found that there are medicines out there that really help and don’t lose their effectiveness. If you’ve only tried anti-anxiety medicines, I would suggest trying an anti-depressant such as Cymbalta which treats anxiety and depression. It has greatly helped with my insomnia from an overactive mind. I have also found that sleeping medicines like Ambien help ease the racing mind and that my body hasn’t become immune to it.

Medication really can help, you just have to wait, sometimes a long time, to get the right dosage and combination down. I used to sleep less than 20 hours a week, it was absolutely horrible. I understand that yours isn’t chronic, but if anti-anxiety or anti-depressant meds don’t work, consider anti-psychotic medication. I know, it sounds bad, but working with your doctors to find the right one will help in the long run. There are many many options.

You can try to exercise, this can help you to combat insomnia. There are a few particular exercises that seem to work better than others likes Treadmill, Bicycling, Stationary Bike, Jump Rope, Dancing, Walking & Jogging, etc
When you exercise your body and mind at the same time, you’ll notice you’ll get a deeper and more fulfilling night sleep. It’s very easy to exercise your mind while you’re involved in physical activity.
Some ways to do this while you’re exercising are:
- Doing simple math problems in your head
- Reciting something you need to remember
