Delayed sleep syndrome is a condition wherein people cannot stick to the traditional sleeping hours and as a reaction, get troubled about the timing of their sleep. This depends upon one’s internal clock, so people facing this problem usually go late to bed and faces difficulty in waking up on time in morning as well.

Although it is a sleep disorder, once the person manages to sleep, he or she gets sound and perfect sleep. The only difficulty they face is with synchronizing their sleep hours with standard sleeping hours.

Its causes are more internal than external. These are built in problems like variations in rhythms of the body which cause disorder in sleep-wake cycle. This is the same as feeling jet lagged after a long airplane trip, but experienced for a longer duration of time.

Owing to delayed sleep syndrome, people usually get into many troublesome situations. They earn the title of night owls from people around then they keep requesting family members to help them wake up on time which increases dependency on others. It gets very hard for them to focus on their work during morning or daytime.

They become extremely dependent on others to wake them up on time. Sleep disorder can result in other health and social impacts like insomnia, stress, bad temper and feeling disturbed once they go to bed.

Currently, there are lots of effective ways to cure this syndrome but the success factor is unpredictable. Bright light therapy, chronotherapy, intake of sleep inducers such as melatonin are some of the most prominent techniques in use for severe cases.

In case of mild cases, sleep hygiene habits are implemented. They are like sleep only when you feel sleepy, do not exercise at least four hours before exercise, and try to move back gradually to proper traditional bedtimes. This syndrome is not something to be ignored rather it needs special attention.

Once thought of as a luxury item, saunas are now used by a diverse range of people all over the world. Not only are saunas a great way to relax, but millions of people use saunas for their health benefits. A sauna can be used alleviate a wide number health issues which results in an improved quality of life. When it comes to the health benefits of using a sauna, it is understandable why people are using them not only in spas, fitness centers, and gyms, they are also installing them in their homes.

The following is a list of the health advantages of spending time in a sauna:

1. Too much stress can result in such health conditions as headaches, insomnia, and anxiety. A sauna is a great way to reduce stress. The heat from a sauna causes a natural relation. As well, stress causes the buildup of certain chemicals that promote a feeling of stress. Perspiration from a sauna causes these stress causing chemicals to be released and decreases the production of these chemicals. This results in the stress feeling going away leaving a more relaxed state of mind and body.

2. We are constantly exposed to chemicals and toxins in the air we breathe, the foods we eat, and from the products we use. Over time, the accumulation of external toxins and heavy metals in our body can negatively impact our health. A sauna acts as an effective body detoxifier. The perspiration we undergo in a sauna helps to release toxic elements from the skin. The result is healthier skin and improved health and well being. The increased blood to our skin caused by an increase in temperature allows the skin to receive more nutrients and oxygen which rejuvenates the skin leaving it smooth and beautiful.

3. Excess weight has been proven to have a negative effect on one’s health. A sauna is a great way to shed unwanted pounds. When sitting in a sauna, one’s heart rate is increased which increases blood circulation much like light exercise does. This causes fat to burn resulting in a loss of weight. As well, sweating in a sauna helps one to drop the weight.

4. Spending time in a sauna helps to ward off colds and the flu. A sauna causes our body to heat up much like a fever. A fever produces more white blood cells and other cells to help combat the illness. A sauna triggers the exact same response. Immunity also becomes strengthened which helps to shorten colds and the flu. A sauna also helps with breathing. It helps to drain congested sinuses and congested airway passages.

5. The increase heat of a sauna helps to alleviate muscle soreness and joint pain. This is helpful for those suffering from bone and joint conditions such as arthritis. The increased temperature causes blood vessels to expand and improve blood circulation. More oxygen and nutrients are carried to the strained areas reducing pain, inflammation, and promotes faster healing. Muscles and joints will also be more flexible.

Whether it is for healing or prevention, research has shown that there are many health benefits to using a sauna. Spending time in a sauna is great way to nor only escape the stresses that accompany daily life, but is also an effective way to improve one’s overall health and well being.

Professionally-built infrared saunas make a great addition to your home and add convenience to your life. Also consider an outdoor sauna if you like the outdoors.

Most people who are in stressful situations are usually reminded to take extra care of their health. A lot of literature already exist about the effects of stress in a person’s mental health. Some, because of not being able to manage their stress, develop anxiety disorders or even depression. However, not a lot of people are aware of psychosomatic health problems which are mostly caused by a lengthened exposure to stressful events or situations.

First, you might want to review the five basic strategies from the first article of this series: be prepared, breathe, take time out when you need it, focus on the positive, and do what you can, one thing at a time. But sometimes, you need more help. Your body may be flooded with stress hormones, and they need to go somewhere. Some serious intervention may be in order. Physical intervention.

ADHD is still a relatively new condition that has yet to be understood by the public. While a number of professionals have guested in health-related television shows to explain ADHD, many are still clueless about the nature, symptoms, and possible treatments for this condition. Those who are uninformed about the true nature of ADHD often unknowingly label children with this condition as being simply “hyperactive.” Others are even considered as “abnormal children.”

To understand how the nervous system connects psychological events and physical manifestations in the form of illnesses or diseases, the case of gastrointestinal problems resulting from chronic stress will be used as an example. Just today, it was announced over the news that the former prime minister of Japan was hospitalized due to gastroenteritis. According to his doctors, his illness resulted from extreme stress and exhaustion. Gastroenteritis is defined as the inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract which includes the stomach and the intestines.

3. Vigorous exercise.Go to the gym. A fairly intense workout gets rid of the stress hormones and you will feel a whole lot better afterwards. In fact, that stressed-out feeling may well have evaporated altogether. If you’re stuck at work, you could also walk or run up and down the stairs a few times. No stairs? Walk around the block.

4. Valerian & Co.There are a number of natural supplements that help with calming yourself down. I have found valerian especially effective, alone or in combination with a variety of other herbs, including passion flower, scullcap, St. John’s wort, kava, and more. Other supplements, including GABA are also highly effective and can be used alone or in combination with the former.

Hyperactivity is one of the most noticeable characteristics of children with ADHD. It is said that this behavior results from a problem in an executive function of their brain. This executive function is identified as response or behavior inhibition. Because of their difficulty in inhibition, their sleep behaviors are affected. Moreover, children with ADHD are sometimes prescribed medications containing stimulants which also prevent them from being able to sleep. A lot of these kids with this condition, thus, are susceptible to having insomnia.

Like most people who suffer from insomnia, children with sleeping disorders also exhibit anxiety as a result of their lack of rest. Their mood and performance in school are most affected by this problem. When a child with ADHD is suspected to be having problems with sleeping, it is best to consult a doctor immediately. The doctor may prescribe medications to address this problem and determine what other management can be provided. It will also be helpful to teach the child relaxation techniques and proper sleeping habits such as avoiding rigorous activities before sleep.

I wonder how you’ll get me out of this one, and then take a deep breath and proceed to step five from the previous article: Do what you can — one thing at a time. One of my favorite resources is the Unity Prayer Line, which you can reach 24/7 at 1800-NOW-PRAY. it’s free and incredibly helpful.
