Delayed sleep syndrome is a condition wherein people cannot stick to the traditional sleeping hours and as a reaction, get troubled about the timing of their sleep. This depends upon one’s internal clock, so people facing this problem usually go late to bed and faces difficulty in waking up on time in morning as well.

Although it is a sleep disorder, once the person manages to sleep, he or she gets sound and perfect sleep. The only difficulty they face is with synchronizing their sleep hours with standard sleeping hours.

Its causes are more internal than external. These are built in problems like variations in rhythms of the body which cause disorder in sleep-wake cycle. This is the same as feeling jet lagged after a long airplane trip, but experienced for a longer duration of time.

Owing to delayed sleep syndrome, people usually get into many troublesome situations. They earn the title of night owls from people around then they keep requesting family members to help them wake up on time which increases dependency on others. It gets very hard for them to focus on their work during morning or daytime.

They become extremely dependent on others to wake them up on time. Sleep disorder can result in other health and social impacts like insomnia, stress, bad temper and feeling disturbed once they go to bed.

Currently, there are lots of effective ways to cure this syndrome but the success factor is unpredictable. Bright light therapy, chronotherapy, intake of sleep inducers such as melatonin are some of the most prominent techniques in use for severe cases.

In case of mild cases, sleep hygiene habits are implemented. They are like sleep only when you feel sleepy, do not exercise at least four hours before exercise, and try to move back gradually to proper traditional bedtimes. This syndrome is not something to be ignored rather it needs special attention.

When you think about insomnia you’re thinking of someone who can’t sleep for any reasonable amount of time. A typical complaint from an insomniac isn’t being able to close their eyes or rest their mind for in a couple of minutes at any given time. There are many reasons for this ranging from anxiety to bipolar disorder. Yet sometimes there is no real causes and may just happen for virtually any given reason, but a lot of activity and physical pain could be causes for somebody not to be sleeping through the night.

Finding the underlying causes is key to finding an end to this issue. It’s also been found that not eating has contributed to someone not sleeping. There are 3 forms of insomnia and they are transient insomnia which lasts any where from a solitary night to several weeks, acute insomnia is the inability to get enough rest for a single period of 3 weeks to up to 6 months, and chronic is deemed probably the most serious where it’s happening nightly for at least a month or longer.

There are options to relieve insomnia the most common is medicinal since there’s commercials on for Ambien, Ambien CR (Controlled Release) , Rozerem, and Lunesta prescribed for individuals struggling with insomnia.

Seems like in this day and age that sleep problems are getting to be more widespread and prevalent because with the new line of sleeping pills coming out explains clearly shows that there is an increase of sleeping disorders of many variations. Some of the medications on the market that’s used in treating insomnia have proven that it was effective in helping insomniacs wake and sleep at the correct time, but it lacks the data information to prove the theory as truth and factual. Lunesta and Ambien are noted to having a higher psychological dependence compared to older brands of sleeping pills and now cognitive behavior therapy is one of the many options widely used in someone dealing with insomnia and using the medication Rozerem because of the like hood of getting hooked to the drug is reduced and is widely prescribed for individuals that have a medical history of overusing their medications.

Some insomniacs have used herbs like chamomile when drunk in tea and lavender for aromatherapy as a means to unwind. Insomnia may also result in a deficiency of magnesium and getting the right amount has proven to improve the quality of someone’s sleeping patterns.

Pomegranates are great for insomniacs since there’s a nutrient within the fruit key for everything from immunity to cardiovascular health and are great for improving sleep. Insomniacs may also be advised to eliminate much of the stress and tension within their lives since this is a triggering problem in the everyday life on an insomniac. Chinese medicine has also been introduced into helping those with sleeping disorders and other issues surrounding that. According to statistics taken from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services it’s estimated that 60 million Americans are afflicted by some type of insomnia and is noted to rise with age. 40% of women and 30% of men suffer from this.

Women tend to face this more resulting from increased level of responsibilities within lives since more and more households in America are becoming single run homes and 75% of women are the heads of them which makes them the sole bread winners and taking on the role of father and mother helping to make their lives increasingly difficult when they lack a partner or spouse to give them the support they require.

Insomnia is hardly ever fatal (the one exception is fatal familial insomnia, an extremely rare degenerative brain disease). However, it can be dangerous, and that’s why finding sleep remedies to cure your insomnia is really crucial. After reading this article you will understand why doctors advise we get eight hours of sleep each night!

Statistics show that as many as 200,000 car accidents in the U.S. are caused by sleep-deprived drivers annually, and that 1,500 of the accidents end in death. Studies also show that approximately one third of Americans have admitted to falling asleep while driving a car, and that 10% of those incidents resulted in an accident. People who experience habitual drowsiness (insomnia or another sleep issue) are more likely to go to sleep at the wheel than people who have normal sleep patterns.

You might be surprised that your sleep habits could have an influence on how long you live. A study done in 2002 reveals that people who sleep around seven hours a night have the highest lifespan, while people who slept six hours or less, or eight hours or more had shorter life spans. Insomnia by itself doesn’t cause you to have a higher mortality rate, but this same study showed that individuals who took sleeping pills did have a higher death rate.

Not surprisingly, your sleep habits may have a large impact on your quality of life. People with sleeping disorders could have a quality of life that is almost as bad as people with severe health conditions, including heart disease. That is because individuals with insomnia experience more fatigue, irritability, as well as poorer relationships with their family and friends compared to those who get enough rest. Insomniacs likewise have more attention and memory difficulties, which unfortunately result in more errors on the job. All of these combined really can result in a decline in your quality of life.

Insomnia is capable of having a tremendous impact on your disposition (you know you’re always grouchy when you don’t get adequate rest). But it may also result in depression or various other psychological issues. Sleep disorders and psychological problems tend to be so related that many times treating a person for insomnia could relieve or even remedy their emotional issues.

As you have seen, sleeplessness can definitely take a toll on your body. A sleep disorder can do more than make us tired, it can lead to accidents as well as serious medical issues down the road. If you suffer from sleep issues for more than a few nights or a few weeks, you should visit a doctor to get sleep remedies and to make sure that there aren’t any other health problems triggering your insomnia.

There are numerous people who have an undiagnosed sleep problem. They may feel very sleepy during the day. They may have difficulty falling to sleep or staying asleep. Friends or relatives might tell them they give the impression of being very tired. They could go through mood changes, irritability or become overly emotional. Often they have difficulty being attentive, concentrating, or remembering things that are important. These are all symptoms of sleep deprivation, and possibly of a sleep disorder.

A person who has an undiagnosed sleep problem will typically answer the question, “What exactly is the situation with your sleep,” with one of five responses. Those answers will probably be; “I’ve difficulty falling asleep,” ” I have difficulty remaining awake,” “I can not get on my feet in the morning,” “I appear to do odd things in my sleep” or “I can’t sleep on account of my partner.” The particular answer selected can help to narrow down the potential of a specific kind of sleep disorder.

When someone says “I can’t fall asleep” it could signify several things. There might be a problem when first going to bed, after waking up in the middle of the night, or in the early morning hours.

Most people have the challenge of not having the ability to fall asleep if they go to bed. This known as sleep latency. Sleep latency generally is a very serious symptom of particular sleep disorders, including sleep onset insomnia, delayed sleep phase condition, shift work, restless leg syndrome or paradoxical insomnia. Many times the issue is not being able to stay asleep, which is sleep fragmentation. Often someone with this complaint could fall to sleep without difficulty when they go to bed, but wake up regularly through the night. Sleep disorders could include sleep maintenance insomnia, shift work. If someone wakes up very early in the morning and can’t get back to sleep, it could be a sign of advanced sleep phase problem or sleep maintenance insomnia.

In case the answer to the question is “I am unable to stay awake” and the person is falling asleep at inappropriate times there might be a sleep problem such as narcolepsy , obstructive or central sleep apnea, periodic limb movement disorder, restless leg syndrome, shift work or advanced sleep phase disorder.

Those who say “I can’t get on my feet in the morning” and take an hour or more to completely wake from their sleep may have problems with excessive sleep inertia. They are having trouble making the transition from sleep to being awake. Sleep issues that can be the reason for excessive sleep inertia are sleep apnea and delayed sleep phase disorder.

A person who answers the question with “I do odd things in my sleep” may find that their sleep is stuffed with surprises. Sleepwalking, Sleep terrors, confusional arousals, REM sleep behavior disorder, nightmares, sleep-related eating disorder and bruxism are all types of sleep disorders referred to as parasomnias.

If a person answers “I can’t sleep as a consequence of my partner” snoring, sleep apnea, bruxism, restless leg syndrome, or periodic limb movement disorder could be the sleep problem to blame.

In what manner would you answer the question of “What is the problem with your sleep?

Life has indeed become quite fast paced. And this has led to one of the main problems that is troubling most of the society these days. And that is sleep deprivation or sleep debt. It can lead to a multitude of problems such as depression, obesity, heart disease, and memory loss.

Chronic pain, sleep apnea, diet, and travel are only some of the reasons that can prevent people from not getting enough sleep. Stress is probably the most common cause. All you need to do is to learn to know how to resolve it. Here are a few tips that can help you.

Fix a time to go to bed at night and get up in the morning. This will help your internal clock get into the right rhythm and you will be able to sleep well.

Regular exercise at least 5 times a week will greatly improve your sleep. Make sure to exercise for about 20-30 minutes. However, make sure that you don’t exercise at least 5 hours before bedtime.

Don’t lie awake in your bed. You will end up associating your bed with negative emotions. So, get out of bed and do something to relax and then when you are ready, go to sleep.

Is your mattress comfortable? It should be and it should also provide good support to your body. This will ensure that you sleep well.

Don’t consume any nicotine or caffeine based products before bedtime. These are stimulants and will keep you up. Also avoid alcohol since it disturbs the natural sleep rhythm.

Avoid eating or drinking just before bedtime. Digestion will make it difficult to fall asleep. Drinking liquids will make you get up at night to pee and disturb your sleep.

Indulge in an activity that relaxes you. Once your body and mind is relaxed, it will be easier to fall asleep. So, meditate, read a book, or watch TV. Anything that relaxes you will be good enough.

Use your bedroom only for sleeping and for nothing else. This way just being in the room will help you fall asleep. So, don’t watch any TV or do any other work in your bedroom.

With disorders like sleep apnea and insomnia plaguing millions of people, getting a good night’s sleep is becoming an increasing concern for many people. Although scientists have been researching sleep for many years, traditional methods for addressing sleep disorders remain costly and unreliable. Fortunately, the internet, combined with the latest technology, is allowing some consumers to find unique solutions to their sleep issues.

A technology that has been the focus of much attention lately is the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach. This page will review this new sleep system and discuss the benefits and features of the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach.

In a nutshell, the Zeo Sleep Coach system tracks your sleeping habits, gives you information about your problem areas and offers solutions on how to address them. To use the system, you need only wear a lightweight headband when you go to bed each night. You also receive a sleep display unit that resembles an alarm clock, which you can put on your nightstand. Using wireless signals, the headband sends information about your sleep patterns to the display unit.

The moment you wake up, you have access to all sorts of interesting information. For example, the unit will let you know how much REM sleep and how much deep sleep you got. On top of that, other information you will get include such things as how many minutes it took for you to go to sleep, and how often you woke up during the course of the night. You can also get a general idea of the quality of sleep you got by a single number called the ‘ZQ score.’

The information collected about your sleep patterns can then be uploaded to a website using a USB device. The site offers feedback and charts that provide insights on your sleeping habits. It also provides personalized coaching and recommendations for how to improve your sleep. Therefore, the system is designed to isolate the specific issues you are facing in your sleep, and provide tailored solutions to address those issues. In many ways, the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach is like having your own personal trainer that specializes in giving you the attention you need to fix your sleeping disorders.

For those interested in trying out this system at no risk, Zeo Personal Sleep Coach is currently offering a 30-day trial.

Whether it’s due to partners snoring, nagging consciences or the stresses and anxieties of modern life, new research has revealed that women are almost 20 per cent more likely to suffer insomnia than men.

NSF - National Sleep Foundation conducted a research among 2000 women. Within the year of investigation women of age 18 to 64 NSF has revealed that two-thirds of the examined women suffered at least once a week from severe sleep difficulties. Regular sleep disturbances have been reported by 70 per cent of the examined women. Whether only 52 per cent of men reported they had sleeping disturbances once a week.

The study reflects research in a new book by the founder of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Dr Meir Kryger, author of Can’t Sleep, Can’t Stay Awake: A Woman’s Guide To Sleep Disorders. ‘Unlike men, women have sleep problems related to hormonal and bodily changes from menstruation, pregnancy and menopause,’ he said.

‘Unfortunately, too often it is women whose sleep disorders are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed because of a lack of education among doctors about these unique problems. This failure by doctors to correctly diagnose female sleeplessness is meaning sufferers are putting their health at risk while contributing to dramatic rises in obesity and diabetes. ‘Women lose sleep because of their role in the family and the demands of today’s 24/7 world,’ he added.

I certainly must agree with all written in Guardian article. In today’s fast growing and demanding world, women who are much more underestimated in any field, struggle to get a good night sleep.

I have been in a battle to have a good night sleep for three years and there wasn’t anything that could have helped me. One day I attended workshop that was help in Cambridge by great composer with the knowledge in the sleep difficulties field. What he has done was to detaily discuss the background of his music as well as the reason why women cannot get a good quality sleep. I found this workshop very informative and was ready to apply all what he has suggested. Exercises become my number one thing I could not leave without. I couldn’t imagine that it can be so addictive doing exercises. 30 min running is a must for me know.

The other thing I started to apply was meditation. Five minutes a day due to busy routine was fairly enough for me. Meanwhile I was also playing meditation music called alphamusic in the background and this music put my brain into relaxed alpha state. I was doing the same things each day and night - meditation and exercises were a must for me along with alpha music. My life has changed ever since. My insomnia started disappeared, when I woke up which barely happened, I got slept in just few minutes. At the moment I am leading a normal life with less stress and anxiety as well as I am not letting anything stopped this. That day when I attended that workshop was the new beginning for me and all my relatives.

Would you like to find out more about this type of music and read incredible stories of how alpha music has helped people? Please visit www.helpforinsomniacures.com for insomnia solutions .
