@jocf18 A night …
@jocf18 A night terror, is a parasomnia disorder characterized by extreme terror and a temporary inability to regain full consciousness. The subject wakes abruptly from slow-wave sleep, with waking usually accompanied by gasping, moaning, or screaming. It is often impossible to awaken the person fully, and after the episode the subject normally settles back to sleep without waking. They typically occur during non-rapid eye movement sleep.

@jocf18 Again, this …
@jocf18 Again, this is incorrect. The sleep stages 1 through 3, previously known as stages 1 through 4, are collectively referred to as NREM, non-rapid eye movement, sleep. There are distinct electroencephalographic and other characteristics seen in each stage. Unlike REM sleep, there is usually little or no eye movement during this stage. Dreaming is rare during NREM sleep, and muscles are not paralyzed as in REM sleep.

@rwalford1979 then …
@rwalford1979 then what you are having is not night terrors, because they occur during stage four.

@jocf18 People who …
@jocf18 People who experience Night Terrors are never in REM sleep or the deepest sleep. They are only half asleep, in the earliest stages.

you can use a P.I.R …
you can use a P.I.R light (security light with a sensor) in your bedroom, the light coming on helps you come round into consciousness. and snakes were the main terror for me, sometimes living the dream can be VERY scary. Try the light it helps

i suffered badly …
i suffered badly with night terrors, running around in my sleep, waking up with bruises etc for years when i was between 18 & 25. I saw a jungian analyst who helped me on the path to discover the trigger for them. When I discovered the trigger for them they reduced in frequency and severity. I’m 37 now and rarely have a bad one.

I must admit, …
I must admit, having a few too many drinks seems to keep my spousie in a deep sleep… If you check Wiki, you’ll find that Hypnogogia is the inability to ’switch off’ the dream state as the subject awakens - This describes it perfectly. As far as religion goes, a guy in a bathrobe or an ancient book written by paranoid men is not going to alter the switching mechanism of the brain… We are going to try hypnosis to see if this may offer wifey some relief… Peace.

ok. so sometiimes …
ok. so sometiimes when I’m sleeping, I’d start feeling like somethings crawling towards me, or on me sometimes. I’d usually jump up from the sleep, turn on the light, and just look around for bugs until I realize it was just a dream. One time I jumped up and ran towards the kitchen again, until I realize it was just a dream. Is this consider a night terror even though I remember what was going on? Or is this something else.

I had my first …
I had my first episode in 8 years this morning (frequent before) and it was one of the most terrifying things I’ve dealt with in years. No one was home (besides the dog who was VERY confused, I’m 30 btw) and it felt like I was losing my mind.
I spent the entire day doing research into night terrors, and it appears as if this is the disorder I may have.
Thanks for posting this video, I feel a lot better knowing others have this ‘adventure’. Watching the rest now.

I had a friend in …
I had a friend in Portland Oregon years ago, ensure I wouldnt judge her when she told me she was surrounded and attacked by demons. The girl was clinically depressed had mental issues and the like, but after hearing her story, I wasnt sure if it was real, or just a game for her. Point is, if you truly feel a possession, seek religious help (even if you dont believe) - it might help the terrors you have. This sounds more then just a dream to me.

Your mom definitely …
Your mom definitely has a parasomnia sleep disorder, and should seek help if it becomes violent. While there isnt a cure all drug, there might be some natural ways to comfort her during sleep, or make the episodes less violent and sudden. I wish her the best.

This disorder is …
This disorder is hell, my night terrors started 2 months ago. Mine was about someone being in my room waiting for me to fall asleep. It felt like some kind of demon was trying to possess me. Sometimes I stay up late and go to sleep with the tv on. I decided to try to sleep in the dark with no fear, but my night terrors came back worse. My most recent night terror was the dark being tried to strangle me, it just felt so real… I feel that whatever this thing is, it only comes to me in the dark.

I had the same …
I had the same night terror when I was five with snakes. And to this day I’m terrified of snakes. I can look at them but cannot hold them. But even if I do see one on TV I would find myself tightening my neck. Or making my shirt somewhat tight so I don’t feel the clothing touching upper body around the neck, holding it so I don’t have to feel scared. Lizards, eels and worms I’m alright with. I’m 16 and don’t have night terrors. The fear of snakes is still there. It’s sad because I do love them.
