I am currently taking antidepressants and a sleeping medication for insomnia. (effexor xr and seroquel). I know that I should try and stop sometime because I'm still quite young, but the thing is that its really scary when I think about stopping b/c I remember what it was like before I was on these medications…I was a walking zombie and I thought day and night about how I wanted my world to be over. It's been a 180 degree turn these past two years that I have sought psychiatric help.
but i love children and I do want to have them in the future. But i know that taking those medications can be dire for my unborn child. can some people tell me ways that they personally dealt with this problem?
it would be nice if someone can give me some personal stories or maybe something they know that other people have done?
I recommend getting your hands on a copy of a book called Psychotropic Drugs and Women: Fast Facts by Hendrick & Gitlin

Talk to your doctor for some people it might not hurt the baby and for others it might. If the medication you are taking would hurt your baby when you are carrying you can probably just go on another that wouldn't hurt the baby.

yes, definitely consult whoever prescribes your current meds. if you were to become pregnant, i would expect they would want to 'monitor' all involved and you would want this too.
it's very nice to hear that you have taken control of your life and are enjoying, moving on. i often work with folks who don't have the courage to make life work for them:)
best of everything to you:):)
