A somber look at how prescription drugs are affecting us, in particular the dangerous class of drugs called benzodiazepines. Heath Ledger was reportedly taking Xanax and Valium which are both benzodiazepines and Ambien, a Z-drug, which has similar affects to benzodiazepines. Is it possible these pills could have inflamed his insomnia and anxiety? When symptoms are not relieved or become worse, a patient can often become poly-drugged.

what’s so sad? reading all the comments to this video that are bashing heath and they have no idea about addiction…..to prescription drugs….
People point fingers to the addict and say
“your fault!”
they don’t understand how far and long you can get away with this addiction. that little high you feel once you gulp that pill down,the pain relief,the wings you grow

Prescribed …
Prescribed antidepressant. Could have pushed him into bipoar mania, can’t sleep mind races ,Antidepressants make bipolar people manic. I was put on Prozac went manic, given xanax, ambien to sleep. Kept on antidepressants for 13 years.
4 suicide attempts here. Other drugs are needed to calm the racing mind. Taking xanax causes amnesia, I ALWAYS FORGOT HOW MANY XANAX I TOOK. I put myself in Heath and know he forgot how many meds he took. Benzo’s slow everything, lungs, heart, respiration

Barbiturates KILL …
Barbiturates KILL in small doses which is why benzodiazepines were seen as the panacea when invented in the 50’s and 60’s. benzo O.D. did not kill heath. maybe suicide with a more lethal substance cos he could not get off them if he was hooked? so he may of been desperate. therez way more to this sad story than meets the eye. i hope this guy who i thought was great & i pass NO judgment, only feel so sad…hope hez in a GOOD place!!!

no flaws - well done! thing is - itz almost impossible to die from a benzo o.d. so what really killed him??? benzos are harmful as a LIFESTYLE, not as an overdose! and mixed with each other nakes zero diffs - a benzo is a benzo, is a benzo, and diazepam/valium being the second QWEAKEST. painkillers never killed him either, unless A HUGE AMOUNT - the liver & kidneys would pack up. i’ve studied medicine and smell a rat. but keep up ANTI BENZO

i’ve had benzoblues …
i’ve had benzoblues…or benzo hysteria!!my legs giving out on me when i’d get an anxiety attack,feeling like my nerves are about to snap, waking up with hyterical panic attacks..in my area of town the pill use is craaazy…the strong expensive stuff but also the benzos, usually a buck a pop…5-10$ and you’re nice and bunned…..

Just an FYI…all of the meds that Heath took were the prescribed doses or less. No drug was taken in excess….it was the combination of the drugs that killed him….not the doses.

well I for one will …
well I for one will say that xanax has really been a life saver 4me, benzos are much safer than anti-psychotics which would be the replacement people are having lots of weight probs w/ those, any drug taken in overdose will harm, I feel sorry for Heath but he took like 5 diff. meds in high doses, benzos did not kill him he chose to take them in the wrong way, what are people going to take for sleep then, what is the alternative? hypnotics don’t work for severe anxiety
