doxepin

When absolutely nothing else works for sleep and depression, doxepin (SINEQUAN) is left over from the 1960’s and I pull it out of a hat and it works about 60 % of the time. Dont forget doxepine or sinequan for insomnia and depression, there’s one catch is sort of a dangerous tricyclic antidepressant with side effects: dry mouth constipation blurred vision, urinary retention, cardiac side effects, confusion so limited use and only for some patients. it may come back in low dose in the future!!!

    Thank god for …
Thank god for Doxepin. I was diagnosed with deep depression and tried everything short of indian shamen and shock treatment, nothing worked or if it did the side effects were on par with the disease itself. Thank god for this shit, the only medication that successfully treated my depression and had no side effects to speak of…I’ll probably be on it for the rest of my life, but it put me back in the game.

i find it kinda weird, but it was prescribed to me for extreme iching! ive never heard of doxepin before then, but i thought what the heck, ill try it. now everytime i take it, it makes me so drowsy and i cant think straight. so i thought id look it up, maybe thinking its a minor tranquilizer. but nope! even though my family dr. knew i have a psychiatrist that has me on xanax, why would this guy even consider doxepin???? i just dont get it!

    Doxepin is great …
Doxepin is great for sleep, but precribing 25-50mgs per night could be pretty pointless for someone with bad sleep.
Ive been on doxepin for 4 years and I take 150mgs a night, Before I had bad insomnia and now I sleep well every night on 150. However when the doctor precribed me 50mgs, it didnt work at all. Its a very does related thing. If it doesnt work on a lower dose, it will probably work on a higher dose, Ive never had any side effects from taking it in 4 years.

    i just told a …
i just told a patient today, not now in the winter (seasonal increase in depression for most people) you would, with your doctor, lower it for a month and see how you feel if ok , lower again for a month and see how feel, like that, with doxepin im sure there will be rebound nightmares and such but its “easy” to come off of, just wonder if depression and insomnia would get worse if so not time to come off —thats the kind of stuff i use ( also how serious the depression is, family history, etc)

Hey dude cool vid. If it was not for Doxepin I would not be here now, plain and simple. I take 225mg every night and have been doing so for about 3 yrs. I have packed on alot of weight but im enjoying life right now. If this medicine shortens my lifespan I dont give a because without it I would not be alive typing this post. SSRI’s didnt do jack for me but Dox pulled me out of the darkest depression and stopped me thinking about suicide 24/7. Dox rocks my socks :)

    remeron is an alpha …
remeron is an alpha mediated SNRI which is sedating and makes you hungry, at high dose causes ankle swelling and shortness of breath.
Whereas doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant, TCA, which is sedating for only a few weeks usually, and does not make you that hungry and causes ventricular tachycardia at high levels
