Any Cures for Insomnia?
05 Mar 2010
I’ve been having a really hard time getting to sleep recently. I was wondering if anyone had some tips to help me get to sleep faster.
Hello Johnny. I am presuming you are under 25; so a key here is to get a routine going that both your body and mind understand - and get in sync. Open up a diary of your goings on, stress, stimulants, emotional ups and downs, cell phone stress, gaming, partying. Do you really have sleep insomnia? Sleep disorders? Are you taking anything like melatonin for it?
On average, teens up to mid 20’s need about 8 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Problem is, missing sleep repeatedly affects every part of your life — from relationships with friends, to your ability to concentrate at school, to your mood. You do not mention anything about these from which we can build on to give you an informed answer.
I suggest you keep a diary for 30 days, then come back here with more info for more informed help.
In the meantime I suggest you visit the below site and read up on the blogs about insomnia. Easy reading and informative. Maybe you can then self diagnose?
However I do suggest that you follow a standard routine to avoid giving your mind surprises and do some detective work about what you do after 6pm every evening.

fix your sleeping area. comfy sheets that are clean and smell good. avoid tv 30 min before going to bed. try reading something very boring, youll become uninterested and will put it down, deciding sleep is better than the boring book.

1) Only sleep on your bed. Don’t watch TV or do homework on your bed. Get your body/mind used to getting sleepy when you sit on your bed.
2) Try to fall asleep and wake up at the same time everyday. Your circadian rhythm will help you get to sleep if you have a routine.
3) Try drinking warm tea to go to bed. If you go to the grocery store and look in the tea section you’ll see a few with moons and stars, it’s called tilo tea. That’ll help you get to bed. Don’t put sugar in it, use honey instead.
