This video is a recording of a live manipulation of two combined images. One image is of the logo for Rozerem, a medication to combat insomnia, a condition suffered by myself. The drug was ineffectual in helping me. The logo has been heavily abstracted in Photoshop. Behind this is a second image of a digital print featuring purposeful chromatic aberration. The unfocused quality of this second image is a metaphor for sleep deprivation. Live manipulation of the resultant combined image was carried out using Photoshop via the many adjustments provided by the software. Thus the throbbing and cycling colors of a sickness brought on by sleeplessness is captured in the process of Photoshop as performance. In addition to Photoshop, Snagit was used to record the screen. Please note, beyond these two programs, no other equipment or software was used; there was no camera or editing software used in the creation of my video. The source images and video were both created in 2010.

A mattress is a mat or pad, usually placed on top of a bed, upon which to sleep or lie.
The word mattress is derived from Arabic words meaning “to throw” and “place where something is thrown” or “mat, cushion.” During the Crusades, Europeans adopted the Arabic method of sleeping on cushions thrown on the floor, and the word materas eventually descended into Middle English through the Romance languages.[1]
Though a mattress may be placed directly on the floor, it is usually placed on top of a platform (such as a platform bed or a metal box-spring or a slatted foundation) to be further from the ground. Historically, mattresses have been filled with a variety of natural materials, including straw and feathers. Modern mattresses usually contain either an inner spring core or materials such as latex, viscoelastic, or other polyurethane-type foams. Mattresses may also be filled with air or water, or a variety of natural fibres, such as in futons.
Insomnia is a symptom[1] which can accompany several sleep, medical and psychiatric disorders, characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep and/or difficulty staying asleep. Insomnia is typically followed by functional impairment while awake.
Both organic and non-organic insomnia without other cause constitute a sleep disorder, primary insomnia.[2] One definition of insomnia is “difficulties initiating and/or maintaining sleep, or nonrestorative sleep, associated with impairments of daytime functioning or marked distress for more than 1 month.”[3]
According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services in the year 2007, approximately 64 million Americans regularly suffer from insomnia each year.[4] Insomnia is 41% more common in women than in men.[5]

i won’t be able to get to a doctor for a few more days what can i do about this insomia i feel like i lost control.
To help you sleep you can decrease the stimuli from your environment. Remember not to do tiring or strenuous activities before going to sleep (like exercising 1 hour or 2 hours before going to sleep). Avoid heavy meals. Drink milk. Decrease the stimuli from your environment by playing soothing music, trying to relax, all up to you. Also, studies show that we should not use the bedroom for stress-causing activities like studying or doing work, etc. They said just to use the bedroom for sleeping.
Hope you can sleep better! Think of thoughts that can make you sleep. Like imagining you’re lying on the sands in the beach, etc. Whatever makes you feel relaxed and calm.

Sleep paralysis is a common condition that may occur in normal subjects or be associated with narcolepsy, cataplexy, and hypnagogic hallucinations. The pathophysiology of this condition is closely related to the normal hypotonia that occur during REM sleep.
Physiologically, it is closely related to the paralysis that occurs as a natural part of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is known as REM atonia. Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the body paralysis persists. This leaves the person fully conscious, but unable to move. In addition, the state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger. Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening to the individual due to the vividness of such hallucinations. The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or dream-like, objects may appear in the room alongside one’s normal vision.
