I’ve tried all sorts of things over the years. But my mind just will not click off at night, and I just keep thinking about stuff, good stuff, bad stuff, what I’ll eat for breakfast, tommorow’s commute, my last sexual encounter, that new movie I want to see etc.

I tried exercise, which made me physically tired but didn’t help me sleep.

I tried turning off the TV and lights completely, but that just made my mind race more.

I’ve tried reading before bed, but I either get so into the book that I stay up to read it or I put it down and think about it to keep me up.

I’ve tried sex, but it just leaves me wanting more sex.

I’ve tried herbals teas, but they do nothing for me.

Over the last couple months, sleep has been hard to come by. I’ve resorted to sleeping pills, but they’re habit forming and they leave me feeling so sluggish in the morning that I need coffee to function. Anybody got some fresh ideas on how to sleep better?

If you read all this, thanks.
My doctor is the person who prescribed the sleeping pills.

I have sufferred from insomnia for years, im fed up - whats the best medicine out there i can ask my doctor to prescribe? insomnia is interfereing with my work life everything!!!
ive tried a natural remedy, i dont drink coffee, i stay away from caffiene, and i dont eat after 7 pm. i workout around 7pm till 8pm 4-5x a week, which on occassion will help me sleep, but as time has gone on, it feels like i just cant sleep. cant fall asleep and once im asleep i wake up about 4 times a night its awful

I tried going to the website and picking a doctor at random, and he was horrible, he didn’t help at all. I don’t have time to go doctor shopping, but my symptoms are getting out of control.

I have had chronic insomnia my whole entire life. I have never been able to sleep (it is 3:30 am right now, and I’m tired, but it’s still “early” for me - I’m desperate.) For the past month I have slept maybe 4-5hrs a night. Before that i loved to sleep, usually 8-9hr each night. Here what my schedule looks like Monday - Friday I work 5pm to 3:30 am, then come home and im usually in bed by 5am and wake up at around 9am or 9:30. I dont know why i cant sleep. I’ve worked that schedule for about 6 months now so my body should be used to it by now. Usually once im awake i dont get tired again until about 8pm but i cant go to sleep cause i’m at work. I dont have much stress and i dont have kids, so i cant figure it out. Any suggestions??? I just dont want to go to the doctor cause I hate talking about myself and i dont know if they ask a whole bunch of different questions. I would love to have some sleeping pills thu!!! Even on the weekends when i have nothin to do i still wake up early. Like this morning i was up at 4:30am, i went to bed around 11pm.
