some great ideas there im feeling very sleepy!

I just think about my whole day. Sometimes i just make up senarios and see what i would do. I sing songs sometimes (in my head of course), but usually just think and try to imagine what i would do in another life, say to the people around me or even to people i dont know. (if that makes any sense at all) lol then again… it has been taking me at least 45 minutes to fall asleep! i am going to watch this carefully, i need to sleep faster!

I am currently on 20mg of prednisolone. The dosage was reduced to the current amout after taking it for six months. I am suffering from side effects such as severe acne flare ups, moon face, weight gain, insomnia, mood swings, occasional muscle pain, excessive growth of hair and stretch marks. I had asked the doctor about the stretch marks and he said that they will become less visible when i stop taking the medication but they will stay there forever. I am so depressed sometimes and really do not know what to do.I want to know whether if i will slim down and the excessive hair grown will drop when i stop medication?

Yes, the side effects will go away once you have stopped the medication. However, with the weight gain you may have to go on a diet to lose some of it.

Prednisone is such an icky medication. Works good, but side effects are awful. Hang in there, things will get better.

Drink a cup of hot lavender tea. It's non-caffinated. Take a warm bath or shower using lavender essential oil based bath gel. Play soothing spa music. Diffuse your room with pure natural lavender essential oil (4 drops will do in an electrical diffuser). Use herbal hot-compress with lavender scent by microwaving it 2 minutes on high and hug to sleep. If this doesn't work, then try taking melantonin. Don't rely on sleeping pills as they are addictive. If you hate lavender, try roman chamomile instead.

I have been complaining from insomnia for almost a weak, I realized a drastic restrain in my appetite, I barely eat anymore. Does it have any influence on my apetite on the long run?

I just read an article in "Newsweek" about women and sleep. Appetite loss is definitely a symptom when the body is sleep deprived. The article primarily focused on why women so often have sleeping problems. It varies from stress, hormonal changes, to yes…depression. If I were you, I'd set up an appointment with your doctor. If nothing else, they can set you up with a sleep clinic perhaps. It is really cool. They hook you up to machines and monitor your sleep patterns and can totally diagnose what is happening! Once they can focus on your sleep, then they can focus on the appetite. Just don't let it go on too long. Ok? Ok!!

Had sleeping problems for years sleeping tablets dont agree with me so is there any other herbal way to help me fall asleep.

Valerian, Ashwagandha and herbs like Brahmi are excellent remedies for insomnia. The pills make the condition worse. In my opinion, they dry up the brain nerves and also the whole body, ultimately leading to depression, lack of memory and concentration. i would recommend you a website www.planetayurveda.com and you can ask the consultants free of cost there.

I have been suffering from insomnia for the past 5 weeks i started with 4 hrs of sleep daily and now i am down to 2hrs, it is really affecting me, i am having migraines and headaches, dizzy spells, my mind is not focused and i have some really bad mood swings.

Any natural remedies or suggestions are highly appreciated.

Thanks

My suggestion is very simple: if you have something worthwhile to dream about you will really feel like going to sleep! Think of your "long lost" favorite things and go to sleep! Happy dreams! ;)

I had a traumatic event back in October and havent been quite right since. I have moments where I feel like I cant breathe for no reason at all. I have occasional insomnia. After my traumatic event I was given medication that relaxed me but it relaxed EVERYTHING. I have a wife and the sexual side effects are not acceptable. I need a non drug solution to my problem. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds more like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), with accompanying anxiety attacks.

You've already identified the most important (and many times, the most difficult) factor and that is the traumatic event that is causing your symptoms.

I use aroma therapy to help relax me in the evening and I also use Beta Wave Therapy to help me with deep sleep. I also use a product called Natural Calm, which is a magnesium supplement that my chiropractor (along with the advice of my physician) recommended. Magnesium is a natural sedative and also helps with Restless Leg Syndrome and joint pain. I also make sure to intake plenty of fluids and I use mediation as well when I'm able.

I know most people don't like the idea of counseling, but I highly recommend it, especially if you're wanting to treat your symptoms in a drug-free manner. Deep breathing exercises are also very helpful and recognizing the stressors that bring about your attacks is essential.

Good luck to you and believe me, there is relief to be found and healing from the trauma, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually… it just takes time and it sounds like you're already well on the road to recovery.

Peace,

Beki

I have difficulty getting to sleep, wake up several times during the night but usually get back to sleep fairly quickly. And I wake up around 4 or 5 am - and this is the most difficult time of all to get back to sleep. I feel exhausted the next day - so I definitely do need more sleep than I get. Yes - I do have something on my mind and often my thoughts overtake my desire to get to sleep.

NO caffeine or sugary foods 5 hrs. before bedtime. Take a very warm bath. Some sleep disorders need a special light to shine on them for an hour the first thing every a.m.!

I came down with a particularly nasty strain of the flu that landed me in the hospital with my throat swollen shut. The doctor put me on Tamiflu 3 days ago…. and I haven't been able to sleep since. Every time I try to lie down, my mind suddenly starts racing and I can't sleep. I know that insomnia is one of the side effects…. is there a way to counter it? Has anyone ever taken it and dealt with the same problem?

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I ocasionally suffer from insomnia. I want to know if there was a cure for it that didnt required going to a special doctor, or buying medicines or pills.

Relaxation therapy… or some sort of self-hypnosis can work really well…

I even downloaded a guided imagery mp3 from the net which helps A LOT!

I have terrible insomnia though, and have for years, so medication is a necessity for me and strangely I have found that the cheapest over-the-counter medication actually helps the most (Benadryl).

However, I still need help in addition sometimes and that is where the tapes and Cd's come in handy. It gets your mind working on something else other than what is keeping you awake and helps to relax your muscles and your mind.

There are any number of relaxation tapes and Cd's available and most of them will work. Although I suggest just downloading some to try before you go out and buy anything.

Most of them have you do the same thing though… basically you tense each part of your body in turn (holding for 3-5 seconds then relaxing) starting at your feet working your way up to your head… Is surprisingly effective…

Good luck!
